Proudly serving the rice industry for more than 10 years

COMPANY OVERVIEW

NRSP Agriculture Processing Company Ltd. (NRSP APCL) was established on October 31, 2016, as a Limited Liability Company under the provisions of the Companies Ordinance 1984. The company was founded to strengthen the agricultural value chain in Pakistan, empowering smallholder farmers through modern processing, warehousing, and fair trade practices.

NRSP APCL originated from the National Rural Support Programme (NRSP) initiative called the "Back-to-Back Value Chain Model." This model focused on supporting small farmers by providing essential agricultural inputs such as farm credit, certified seed, fertilizer, and advisory services — helping them increase productivity and profitability.

However, at harvest time, due to the lack of grain storage facilities, farmers often faced unfair pricing pressures from informal markets. To address this challenge, NRSP envisioned a system that could empower farmers by improving post-harvest storage, access to finance, and transparent market linkages.

Our Journey

In March 2014, the State Bank of Pakistan announced Round 2 of the Financial Innovation Challenge Fund (FICF), aimed at promoting financial inclusion through innovative models. NRSP proposed to pilot a warehousing facility in Hafizabad District, enabling small farmers to safely store their harvested grains (paddy and wheat) on a fee basis.

The pilot project was approved in June 2014, and operations began in October 2015. During this phase:

  • 3,716 farmers were registered
  • 2,860 microfinance loans were provided
  • 1,148 farmers participated in 35 agricultural workshops

The success of the pilot led to the formation of NRSP APCL as a for-profit subsidiary of NRSP in 2016 to manage and expand the warehousing and processing operations.

In March 2019, NRSP entered into a shareholding agreement with Karandaaz Pakistan, offering a 49% equity stake to further scale up the project. With this partnership, warehousing capacity was expanded from 5,100 metric tons to 20,000 metric tons, and state-of-the-art rice processing machinery was installed.

Achievements and Recognition

Today, NRSP APCL stands as Pakistan's first accredited warehouse under the Collateral Management Companies Regulations 2019, setting industry benchmarks for quality and operational transparency.

The company has also been recognized as the "Best Processor of Rice and Warehouse Operator" by the Executive Committee of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, highlighting its commitment to excellence and innovation in agricultural processing.

Our Commitment

Through modern rice processing facilities, warehousing infrastructure, and robust quality assurance systems, NRSP APCL ensures that every grain meets the highest standards of purity, consistency, and traceability.

Beyond operations, the company continues to promote financial inclusion, rural development, and farmer empowerment — ensuring that smallholding farmers across Pakistan achieve economic stability, fair trade opportunities, and long-term growth.

Farmer Sourcing & Pricing

Every bag of rice we process begins with a direct purchase from a small farmer in Punjab — not through a chain of commission agents and informal market dealers. We buy paddy on transparent, pre-agreed terms, paying farmers promptly and fairly for what they bring to our gate. This direct relationship is central to the farm-to-fork model NRSP APCL was built around, and it starts long before the rice ever reaches our processing lines.

Buying directly from farmers also works in our favor commercially. Without the added cost of multiple middlemen, we secure paddy at a more competitive price while still paying farmers better than the informal market typically offers. That efficiency flows through to our own pricing — allowing NRSP APCL to offer buyers competitive, reliable rates without compromising on the quality or traceability of the grain.
